SoCraTes Conference Switzerland 2026

January, 29th - February 1st, 2026.
International Software Craft and Testing Conference.

SoCraTes conferences tend to be held in very special places. The French and the
British hold theirs in a castle, the Swiss in a monastery!

Our Sponsors

We’re grateful to the many companies in our community who help make SoCraTes Switzerland more affordable. Their support keeps ticket prices low and enables more people to experience both Switzerland and the conference.

What is SoCraTes?

SoCraTes Conference Switzerland is an unconference for passionate software crafters who care about improving the way we build software.

An unconference (also known as an open space or barcamp) is a participant-driven event: the agenda is created together, discussions are proposed and led by attendees, and the schedule adapts in real time. This format encourages active participation, collaboration, and flexibility.

It is the perfect environment to connect, share, and code with other engaged developers, learning from and with each other.

Timeline

SoCraTes is a place to meet, exchange ideas, and make things happen. Instead of a detailed agenda, we provide only a few cornerstones. The rest is shaped by the participants during the event.

Online timetable for destination

Group transport
Depending on individual travel plans, most participants will travel as a group by train from Zurich with Super Safer tickets. We will send out emails with more information.

The event begins on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday are two days of open space. The conference is officially over on Sunday after breakfast, but people can still join us for a nice walk, go skiing, discover the beauty of the Engadin or run another workshop until the afternoon.

The programme for the day will be drawn up in the morning. Sessions will take place throughout the day. Ad-hoc sessions, hacking, games and chats are just some of the many possible evening activities.

Single room: maximum CHF 600.00 (deposit/payment of CHF 480.00 now, rest later)
Single bed in twin room: maximum CHF 500.00 (deposit/payment of CHF 440.00 now, rest later)

The exact cost of a ticket will depend on the amount of sponsorship we receive. All sponsorship money will go towards additional conference amenities and reduced ticket prices for all delegates.

Tickets are non-refundable and must be paid in full (deposit + balance) to gain access to the un-conference.

All tickets include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, water and healthy snacks will be provided free of charge throughout the day. All other drinks and any evening activities are NOT included.

Buying a ticket for a single bed in a twin room means that you are reserving a bed in a twin room. If you'd like to share a room with someone you already know, you can enter their name in the registration form. If you don't know who you would like to share your room with, you can decide at a later date.

We have a limited number of rooms available, so we cannot guarantee that everyone will have a single room. We would like to ask you to share a room so that we can accommodate more people.

Sponsorship

As a non-profit event, SoCraTes Conference Switzerland keeps costs as low as possible for attendees. Our goal is to make the conference accessible to everyone, not just those who can easily afford it. While participation is free of charge, the venue and logistics are not — and this is where sponsors play a vital role.

Sponsorship helps us reduce the financial burden on participants and ensures that the event remains open and welcoming to the whole community.

If you would like to explore alternative arrangements or additional privileges as part of your sponsorship, we are happy to work with you to create something that benefits everyone.

In return for your support, we offer:

  1. A thank-you mention at the beginning and end of the conference
  2. Your logo on our website
  3. Recognition on our social media channels
  4. Premium sponsors: the opportunity to distribute swag to attendees

If you are interested in helping us run a great and affordable unconference, please get in touch: info@socrates-ch.org
